Maple Valley Farm is located in Southern Ohio near Hillsboro. The farm has been in the family now for six generations. We raise and show purebred, fullblood and percentage Gelbvieh and Simmental cattle, as well as Angus, Red Angus and club calves. We also raise % and Fullblood Boer goats. We no longer raise sheep. Our brood mare band consists of Appaloosa, Paint and Quarter Horse mares. We also have Great Pyrenees, Australian Shepherds and Pembroke Welsh Corgi dogs. Our family remains active in preserving and promoting the breeds that we raise and love.
The Simmental herd was started in 1975 and the Gelbvieh herd in 1983. These two breeds compliment one another. We have added Black Angus and Red Angus for crossbreeding and developing Simangus and Balancer cattle. We added a few fullblood gelbvieh females in April of 2022.
We love our horses and started with Appaloosas in 1980. We added some Quarter Horses into the mix as the kids started to show.
Our Great Pyrenees are the great defenders of our stock. They ward off potential predators such as coyotes and black buzzards and keep stray dogs from causing damage. The Aussies and Corgis are natural herding breeds and help out when we halter break calves or need to round up cattle.
